Lustful Thoughts About Merkel

The attacks on Charlie Hebdo and their aftermath continue to make the news. We're moved from the news, to the reactions to the news, and now we're on to reactions to the reactions to the news. You are no doubt aware that there was a massive rally in support of freedom of expression Charlie Hebdo in Paris and that world leaders gathered together in a staged photograph solidarity. (No surprise, really. Does anyone think their security details would have let them mingle with 1.5 million people?)

In the front of the group, are the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, Frederica Mogherini, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Anne Hidalgo, the Mayor of Paris. I'm not going to name anyone else in the group, because it's a little off topic. Back to Merkel.


You won't however, find any of these women in the photo that ran in the Israeli newspaper HaMevaser, which has a Haredi readership. Nope. No women in the photos. Better to distort world events than show women. Wouldn't want the readers to be getting lustful thoughts over Angela Merkel.

I mean look at her! (Oh, that's right, you can't, not in that photo.) Well, you could see the original photograph at the New York Times article (and other places on the web), but you have been warned. I will not be held responsible if you have lustful thoughts about Angela Merkel.

Final note: A check of the page about Merkel on Wikipedia (warning: contains images of Angela Merkel) reveals that she has a Ph.D. in chemistry, so I have to tag this one to take note of it. Maybe HaMevaser is opposed to showing pictures of chemists in their pages, though that doesn't explain the other two.
